Quintin Shih does many projects ranging from personal art projects to commissioned works.  The photos he does with Dior particularly interest me.

Hong Kong Moment

“I tried to create some ordinary spaces that can easily be found in the city. In such virtual reality I have the people (models) dressed in Christian Dior haute couture entering the ordinary lives of Wuhan locals in modern times in a surreal and quiet way…Behind these open spaces there is an even wider city, resembling much of the city’s culture, mysterious and far-reaching. Such symbiosis is exactly what the city presents – it has openly attracted a variety of culture.“  -Quentin Shih

Shanghai Dreamers

“My inspiration came from a certain Chinese style of group photography but these ceremonial photographs mark a departure from a certain historical period and herald the future. I created some typical Chinese groupings; they replicate themselves, wearing plastic clothes. They stand on display in vast spaces or upon a stage because they were, and still are dreamers. As China enters a new era, they begin to stand together upon a world stage, self-conscious and yet filled with power.” -Quentin Shih

The Stranger in the Glass Box

“Quentin Shih’s ‘Stranger in the Glass Box’ series, a collaboration with the House of Dior, juxtaposes industrial scenes from northern China with Dior models as emblems of affluence from Western culture. The result highlights the beauty and grotesqueness of both worlds.”  - PX Photography Gallery
